Thankful for You - Come to Gather Suite

Tis the season to be grateful and and thankful.  Make a special card to let someone know you are thankful for them using the Come to Gather Suite.  I absolutely LOVE how Mint Macaroon and Pretty Peacock pair together in this suite.  Add some shimmer or whisper white and vellum to give a little contrast and perfecto! you've got yourself a beatiful card.  When playing around with my die cut pieces, I decided to add in the Christmas Layers die and use the Stitched Labels die for my background. I'm very pleased with how it turned out.  This card could be easily adapted to use a different color scheme as well.  So, go ahead, make it your own! :)

Stay crafty, my friends. ;)

Come to Gather Meets Country Home - 3D Project

The Come to Gather Suite meets Country Home in this 3D project I'm sharing today.  They go so perfectly together! I encourage you to mesh them in a project of your own; whether it is something 3D, a card, or maybe a scrapbook page.  This was one of those projects that just "came to me."  You know, the idea sparks and won't leave until you've at least attempted to complete the vision. :) I had been to the dollar store (Dollar General) shortly after placing my preorder for the Come to Gather Suite when I came across those thick wood words meant to place on a mantel or shelf around your house.  I seen the word "home" and the vision just HIT!  I'm quite pleased with how it turned out and I hope you enjoy it too!

To get the paper to match the wood block word "home", I simply flipped the paper over so it was backside up (the side you don't want to see) and flipped the wood word over (so that the word is backwards) and traced the word with a mechanical pencil.  The mechanial pencil allowed me to get a close fine tip.  Don't worry about an exact fit, it just needs to be close.  I then cut the word out of the paper.  If your word is bigger than the length of the 12x12 sheet you may need to trace and cut in two pieces.  If there are centers of letters you need to cut out, such as the center of a lower case "e", I recommend using a sharp tool such as an Exacto knife or something similar to cut it out if you are having a hard time using your snips.

To adhere the paper to the wood word block, I used my all time favorite Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  This stuff is great guys!  You want to make sure something is going to stick?  Use this stuff!  AND it dries clear!  You can find this glue in my product list below.  Oh! and make sure you put it on the side of the paper you DON'T want to see.

Once you have your paper word lined up and adhered to your wood word, you can now make those edges look flawless with the help of a nail file.  I chose a nail file so I could get in all the nooks and crannies of each letter.  Use the file to round the paper to the wood block and get rid of any overhanging paper.  It it gives it a real nice finished look and adds a little bit of distress to the paper.

And now you are ready to decorate your word!  To see the full product list I used to create mine, scroll below!  Click on the images to shop now!

Thanks for stopping by and stay crafty my friends!! ;)
